Description
The Prince and the Pauper is a novel by American author Mark Twain. It was first published in 1881 in Canada. The novel represents Twain’s first attempt at historical fiction. It tells the story of Edward Tudor, Prince of Wales and King Henry VIII’s son and heir to his throne. He and a pauper named Tom Canty switch clothing, and everyone mistakes one of them for the other because of their identical looks, laughing at Edward’s claims of being a prince.
