Description
The Selfish Gene is a 1976 book on evolution by ethologist Richard Dawkins, in which the author builds upon the principal theory of George C. Williams’s Adaptation and Natural Selection.
One of Dawkins’ central motivations in The Selfish Gene is “to understand the biology of selfishness and altruism.” Some animals sacrifice themselves so that other animals in their species can survive.
