Description
The Hunchback of Notre-Dame is a French Gothic novel by Victor Hugo, published in 1831. It is set in Paris during the 15th century. The story centers on Quasimodo, the deformed bell ringer of Notre-Dame Cathedral, and his unrequited love for the beautiful dancer La Esmeralda. Esmeralda, born Agnès, is perceived to be a French Roma girl.
